A couple of weeks ago, we held our first-ever Congressional Forum to help you get to know your Louisiana Democrats running for office. We brought candidates together to share their platforms and connect with you. And we streamed it all live!

If you live in the 1st or 6th Congressional Districts, now it’s your turn!

Next Thursday, July 26th beginning at 4 p.m., we’re holding a forum featuring Democratic candidates running in the 1st and 6th Congressional Districts. Like our first forum, you can watch from the comfort of your own home – we’ll livestream the event on our Facebook page. It’s a great way to get to know the folks who want to represent you in Washington.

True Blue Gala

Baton Rouge- Louisiana High School Democrats Chairman Charlie Stephens issued the following statement.

“As we have informed our attendees to the True Blue Gala, The Louisiana Democratic Party has decided to postpone the event due to catastrophic hurricane Harvey.”

“We do still plan on attending the True Blue Gala and are still taking applications to attend the gala. Though applicants should understand that at this point there is a decreased likelihood of being accepted to attend the gala.”

“I, and the entire executive board would like extend our hands to fellow Americans in Texas and Louisiana as they go through this horrible storm. Texas responded to Katrina and Louisiana will respond to Harvey.”

Lee Magnet High Democrats fight for Charlottesville

Baton Rouge- Louisiana High School Democrats Chairman Charlie Stephens issued the following statement.

“The recent events in Charlottesville have shown the ideals of people like Robert E. Lee and why he should never be in public display.”

“Lee Magnet High School Democrats in conjunction with Louisiana High School Democrats has released a petition to fight to rename their school in a show of solidarity with our counterparts in Virginia.  Everyone that is interested is welcome to sign the petition, we plan on delivering to to school administration as well as the school board and Mayor’s Office.”

“The school administration has been quiet about the elevation of the confederacy that Lee High School represents. My goal is to make sure they know that the community as a whole does not approve and is quite saddened by their position on the matter.”

“The Petition now has over 250 signatures. This is what #LeadingLA looks like.”

Louisiana High School Democrats Announce campaign to ensure Senator Cassidy keeps his promise to Louisiana


Baton Rouge- Louisiana High School Democrats (LAHSD) Chair Charlie Stephens released the following statement.

“Senator Cassidy promised Louisianians and Americans that he would not vote for a bill that did not pass the “Kimmel Test” which he agreed to on “Jimmy Kimmel Live!”.”

“Senator Cassidy agreed that “No Family should be denied Medical care, emergency or otherwise because they can not afford it.” Louisiana High School Democrats plans to ensure that he keeps that promise to the citizens of Louisiana through a organizing campaign consisting of Social Media posts and Email blasts to engage the membership and supporters of Louisiana High School Democrats.”


DSCC Votes in unanimous support of Louisiana High School Democrats


BATON ROUGE- Louisiana High School Democrats Chair Charlie Stephens issued the following statement thanking the Democratic State Central Commitee

“After a vote of the Louisiana Democratic State Central Committee (DSCC) this morning, Louisiana High School Democrats has begun the process of becoming an official affiliate of the Louisiana Democratic Party. This has been a long term goal for Louisiana High School Democrats and we are proud to have started the process to accomplishing it with unanimous support from the Democratic State Central Commitee.”

“On behalf of the Louisiana High School Democrats Executive Board and its membership, we are thrilled to be affiliated with our state party and thank them very much for their unanimous support.”
